hiSoft Ranked #22 out of 23,380 in Global Language Service Market

Beijing, China, June 4 2010 – Market research firm Common Sense Advisory announced the release of its ranking of the top language service providers globally based on 2009 data. hiSoft ranked #22 in the global listings and #2 in Asia.

The ranking is based on a survey by Common Sense Advisory covering company size, revenue, service mix, and other characteristics to identify the largest global language service providers. To enhance the quality of the survey content, Common Sense Advisory also consulted and consolidated diverse sources such as public listings, non-public sources, and business directories. Common Sense Advisory detailed the findings of its comprehensive, six-month study, which identified 23,380 unique suppliers of translation and interpreting services across 149 countries. This year, in addition to publishing a global ranking of the largest providers, Common Sense Advisory also extended its rankings to more focused geographic regions based on the number of suppliers in each area.

“We are honored to be recognized as the top ranked Chinese firm in the Common Sense Advisory “Top 35 Global Language Service Providers” list, and the only one continuously ranked since 2007. This validates our deep expertise in product internalization and localization.” Says Tiak-Koon Loh, CEO of hiSoft Technology International Limited. “hiSoft began as a disciplined engineering company, which allows us to approach language services from a different angle than a company that started off strictly doing translation or interpreting. Our unique model allows clients to bring their globalized software and hardware products to market in the shortest time and in the most cost-effective manner.”

Common Sense Advisory’s study predicts that the global market for language services will reach US$26 billion in 2010. The firm’s research also showed that there are far more LSPs than most people realize, that government spending is greater than originally anticipated and that the market is even more fragmented than previously thought. The report states that the market share for Asia is worth US$2.02 Billion in 2010, and that the industry fared well during a period of economic downturn.
